The Recruit Firefighter, in a training capacity and under immediate supervision receives academic instruction to develop knowledge and practical skills for the position of firefighter.

Organized in 1961, Chatham Emergency Services is a unique private non-profit organization providing both fire and emergency medical services in Chatham County, Georgia. Chatham Emergency Services provides fire services to 245 square miles of unincorporated county with an average 4,000 fire calls annually. In 2015, Chatham Emergency Services received a 2/2X ISO Public Protection Classification. In addition, Chatham Emergency Services has partnered with local agencies to allow participation in the Georgia Search & Rescue Task Force, and soon will partner with other local agencies to develop a Search & Rescue (SAR) Response Team for the surrounding Counties.

Chatham Emergency Services also provides the 911 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) county wide with a response area of 632 square miles and will respond to an expected 70,000+ calls by year's end. In addition, Chatham Emergency Services partnered with local area hospitals to provide pediatric and neo-natal transport services; and with local Law Enforcement to provide Tactical Medics during high risk call outs. TEST INFORMATION

Written Exam Dates: February 14, and February 28, 2019

Physical Agility Test and Interview: June 24, 2020, July 24-July 25, 2020

*For those candidates planning to attend that reside 100+ miles from Savannah, GA., an all-inclusive test date to include the written, physical agility test, and interview is scheduled for July 25, 2020.

Background checks are completed on applicants of Chatham Emergency Services.

The applicants must not have the following:

Motor Vehicle Reports:

DUI or DWI charge with deposition of nolo contender, conviction or plea within the past 3-5 years.

Driver license suspensions within the past 3 years (except for Insurance Cancellation)

Multiple Speeding Tickets within the past 2 years

Multiple accidents within the past 2 years

Reckless Driving within the past 2 years

Vehicular homicide or hit and run charge/arrest

Fleeing or attempting to elude the police charge/arrest

Background Investigations

Applicants must undergo an extensive background investigation applicant are finger-printed and in accordance with the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council (GFSTC), applicants for uniformed firefighting positions must not have:

Pending Criminal cases

Convictions, nolo contendere or pleas involving sexual offense or Domestic Violence Act offenses

Felony convictions and nolo contendere or pleas involving felony arrests (within last 10 years)

Multiple misdemeanors within the past 3 years

Serious misdemeanor convictions, nolo contendere, or pleas within the past 3 years

Criminal Convictions Records within the State of Georgia or nationwide during the past 10 years will be reviewed according GFSTC
