EMT Recruit Academy

Chatham Emergency Services (CES) also provides the 911 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) county wide with a response area of 632 square miles and will respond to an expected 70,000+ calls by year's end. In addition, Chatham Emergency Services partnered with local area hospitals to provide pediatric and neo-natal transport services; and with local Law Enforcement to provide Tactical Medics during high risk call outs. Chatham Emergency Services' vision is to achieve excellence in service to its community and partners. 

Chatham Emergency Services now has openings for the EMT Recruit Academy. This is an entry level position in emergency and non-emergency medical care field. Upon completion of the recruit school, candidates will be eligible to test for national and state certifications. After receiving the certifications, the candidate will be placed within the emergency or non-emergency EMS division with full time employment including all applicable benefits. 

Orientation begins on October 2, 2020. EMT Recruit Academy begins October 5, 2020. 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Successful completion of the written & physical examination along with the interview

Background checks are completed on all applicants of Chatham Emergency Services.

The applicants must not have the following:

Motor Vehicle Reports:

- DUI / DWI charge with deposition of nolo contender, conviction or plea within the past 3-5 years.

- Driver license suspensions within the past 3 years (except for Insurance Cancellation)

- Multiple Speeding Tickets within the past 2 years

- Multiple accidents within the past 2 years

- Reckless Driving within the past 2 years

- Vehicular homicide or hit and run charge/arrest

- Fleeing or attempting to elude the police charge/arrest

Background Investigations

Applicants must undergo an extensive national background investigation.  Applicants are finger-printed and in accordance with the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council (GFSTC), applicants for uniformed firefighting positions must not have:

- Pending Criminal cases

- Convictions, nolo contendere or pleas involving sexual offense or Domestic Violence Act offenses

- Felony convictions and nolo contendere or pleas involving felony arrests (within last 10 years)

- Multiple misdemeanors within the past 3 years

- Serious misdemeanor convictions, nolo contendere, or pleas within the past 3 years

- Criminal Convictions Records within the State of Georgia or nationwide during the past 10 years will be reviewed.

For all non-English speaking candidates, we can assist you per written request. If you need additional resources services send a request to the Human Resources via email (hr@chathames.org) no later than 7 business days prior to the testing date. During this time we will provide a written English comprehension examination that test your ability to read and understand English. Upon successful completion of this exam, we will provide you the written examination and/or resources per written request.
