EMS Training Program Director

Chatham Emergency Services has a current opening for an EMS Training Program Director. This position is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations and oversight of all Emergency Medical Services Training programs, AHA Training Center, and National Association Emergency Medical Technicians Training Center requirements. This position is accountable for ensuring quality education programs and maintaining compliance with the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions and appropriate regulatory agency requirements. Job responsibilities include providing instruction and program administration as assigned by EMS Administration.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The administration, organization, and supervision of all educational programs, both credit and non-credit.
  • Assist with the instruction and training within the EMR, EMT Basic and Paramedic programs.
  • Maintain the program's budget, schedule, and generate program reports.
  • Maintain a high student pass rate in recruit academy and in-house paramedic programs.
  • Conduct continuous quality review and improvement of the educational programs.
  • Long range planning and ongoing development of the programs.
  • Maintain the effectiveness of the programs, including instruction and faculty, with systems in place to demonstrate the effectiveness of the programs.
  • Cooperative involvement with the medical director.
  • Oversight of the orientation/training and supervision of clinical and field internship preceptors.
  • Work with other agencies in cooperative training endeavors.
  • Develop and maintain an active community advisory committee that has input into the continual improvement of the program.
  • Administering the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program.
  • Assist the EMS local agencies and technical college with clinical rotations and evaluation of student performance.
  • Assist in assessing the job market and helping students obtain employment in the EMS field.
  • Participate with other members of the EMS faculty in the development and revision of curriculum.
  • Oversee all continuing education courses.
  • Assist with hiring and mentoring of part time faculty and in general operations of the EMS program.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and quality of fulfillment of responsibilities delegated to another qualified individual.
  • The ability to work as a Georgia Licensed Paramedic and hold or gain a Georgia Level III EMS Instructor Certification within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Be knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, Georgia Scope of Practice and Education Standards about evidenced-informed clinical practice.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess a current National Registry Paramedic certification with five years recent/related professional experience within the discipline .
  • Hold a current AHA BLS Instructor, ACLS Instructor, and PALS Instructor certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.).
  • Hold NAEMT Instructor credentials for PHTLS, AMLS, GEMS, EPC (Preferred)
  • Supervisory and teaching experience in a community college, EMS agency and/or technical college preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to quality teaching, student success and academic excellence.
  • Ability to successfully manage continual, year-round EMT and Paramedic Recruit Academies, while maintaining adequate CEU classes for certified personnel to be able to renew their professional licenses.
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or confer a bachelor's degree by June 30, 2022 from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • State of Georgia Level III Instructor License, or obtain it within 90 days of employment.
  • Physical Tasks include: Working as a fully cleared Paramedic, ability to stoop, lift 200 + lbs, climb stairs. The ability to work in various temperatures, indoor & outdoor work environment.
