Dispatch Recruit Trainee

Chatham Emergency Services (CES) is now accepting applications for a dispatch recruit trainee. CES will provide full training for a candidate to become a fully qualified and trained dispatcher. After successfully completing the dispatch academy the candidate will become eligible for full time employee benefits post probationary period. 

Below are the duties and responsibilities: 

• Receiving emergency and non-emergency calls to the Communications Center
• Monitors EMS, fire and Chatham E-911 EMS Radios
• Provides information, answers question and/or refers callers to appropriate staff for non-emergency and emergency situations
• Documents/records all calls within Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System
• Maintains records of incoming calls and dispatching activities
• Dispatches EMS and fire units 
• Read, review and follow all Chatham Emergency Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Other duties as assigned

This person selected for this position will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and will be assigned to either days or nights. 

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; successfully pass a standardized Dispatch test; physical and background check
