Communication Chief

Chatham Emergency Services has an immediate opening for the Communications/Dispatch Chief. We are in Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is a located near Tybee Island along the beautiful Atlantic Coast. The historic downtown area in Savannah has great attractions, and is known for its history, many local restaurants and shops.

Our Communication Center answers approximately 90,000 calls per year.

Duties:

• Supervise the daily operation and personnel of the fire & emergency medical services communications center.
• Provides training and development of communication center personnel
• Works with other agencies and representatives as appropriate
• Monitoring of telephones and radios in the communication center
• Oversees the dispatching of public safety and other response vehicles for emergency and non-emergency responses
• Maintains a professional working environment

Qualifications:

• Five (5) years of Dispatching in a Communication Center or similar
• Two (2) years of Supervisory Experience
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Professional, Calm & Clear Demeanor under pressure
• Advanced Experience with computers, radios & phone systems
• CPR Certified within six (6) months of appointment
• EMS/Fire Background Experience
• Understanding of Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Concepts (Desired)
• Experience with CAD Systems (Preferred)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug-test & applicable background checks
