Assistant Chief of Fire Operations

Southside has immediate opening for an Assistant Chief of Fire Operations. We are located in Savannah, Georgia. The historic downtown area in Savannah has great attractions, local restaurants and shops. Savannah traditionally has the average of 70 degree weather year around.

 Duties:

• Performs administrative and operational functions necessary to support the fire division of the organization.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of ten (10) years of fire service experience with a combination fire department (career & volunteer). Work History must reflect a progression of increased responsibility culminating in the role of a fire officer.
• 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Georgia State Certified Firefighter (ability to obtain within 6 months of appointment)
• County and/or Regional EOC Training
• Professional, Calm & Clear Demeanor under pressure
• Valid Georgia Class F License with a clean driving record
• Possess knowledge in the development & management of operating/capital budgets
• NIMS Compliant (100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 701a, 800)
• Documentation of Valid Training on current ISO rating requirements for the fire service.
• College Degree (Desirable)
• Fire Officer I, II & III (Desirable)
• Georgia Fire Chief Certification (Desirable)
