VOLUNTEER - FIRE DEPARTMENT (AUXILIARY, SUPPORT, AND FIREFIGHTER POSITIONS)

Have you ever thought about being a volunteer with your community's fire department?

Chatham Emergency Services (CES) and the community it serves depends heavily upon a successful volunteer program in order to provide emergency services in Chatham County.  The modern-day volunteer fire service needs more than firefighters to be successful and we welcome people from all walks of life.

CES is a dynamic and constantly evolving private not-for-profit fire and emergency medical services provider and embraces diversity and inclusiveness to meet the need of emergency services in our community in the most fiscally responsible way possible.

In addition to firefighter, support and auxiliary positions are available for applicants who do not wish or may not be able to participate in fire or rescue operations, but still desire to serve in their local fire department.

Do you have a desire to support and help others, serve at departmental events, public service events or other non-emergency related functions?  Everyone has a talent and a unique perspective which can be applied to the betterment of Chatham County.

As a new member you would be asked to complete the minimum mandatory training required by the State of Georgia for the position held, and to attend a minimum of 25% of drills and 25% of credible calls.  Other requirements may apply based on the assigned Division.

Additional training is available in both fire and emergency medical services including apparatus operator, technical rescue, hazardous materials, fire instructor, fire officer, emergency medical technician, paramedic and more. Whether you want to be on the front lines delivering fire protection, or operating in a support or auxiliary function, there is a position waiting for you!

Requirements


1. Be at least 18 years of age

2. Be a legal United States citizen or possess current documentation to be legally employed in the State of Georgia.

3. Not convicted of a felony in any jurisdiction within ten years prior to appointment

4. Have a good moral character as determined by investigation of the candidates criminal history

5. Complete this Volunteer Firefighter Application.

6. Be in good physical condition as determined by a medical examination

7. Pass the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council's physical agility test (suppression/support only)

8. Reside in Unincorporated Chatham County Area
